Sweetums Artisan Patisserie is a boutique European-inspired pastry shop, proudly owned and operated by Elizabeth, a highly skilled Pastry Chef and Chef. Holding Red Seal certifications in both trades, Elizabeth has dreamed of becoming a pastry chef since the age of nine.

After years of working in award-winning resorts and restaurants across Canada, Elizabeth and her husband, Francis, returned to the East Coast in 2020—only to find themselves in the midst of a pandemic that had deeply impacted the hospitality industry.

Following the heartbreaking loss of her grandfather a few months earlier, Elizabeth used this time to reflect on her career and the life she wanted to build. What began as a way to stay busy and reconnect with baking soon turned into selling pastries at local markets, where she rediscovered her passion for creating edible art.

That summer, the dream of Sweetums—originally a high school entrepreneurship project—was revived and brought to life.

I have always loved the idea of opening my own shop, so reaching milestones and achieving goals I set for myself years ago has been an incredibly emotional and rewarding journey. For a long time, Sweetums was simply a dream.

My passion for food, quality ingredients, and creating memorable experiences has always guided me. Over the years, that passion grew stronger and inspired me to turn my ambitions into something real.

I’ve been fortunate to have the encouragement of family and loved ones who believed in me every step of the way. Their support gave me the confidence to pursue what truly makes me happy and bring this vision to life.

Now, I am beyond grateful to share that dream with all of you. Sweetums is built with heart, dedication, and a love for creating beautiful pastries meant to be enjoyed and remembered.
